How do your inks compare to genuine?

All rihac inks are 'model specific'. This simply means we have produced the inks to be an exacting match to the colours produced by the original cartridges in each particular printer series. All printer manufacturers produce slightly different colours with each printer series they release. When a new printer is released we use create the ink profiled and utilize a spectrophotometer to ensure the match is correct. In some cases OEM inks are over saturated and produce unrealistic colours. In these rare cases we adjust our inks to produce an accurate colour set so that the pictures produced are accurate. As we produce our own ink profile absolutely no other company in the world uses our current profile. An example of other ink profiles is illustrated on the right.

We use premium grade UV dyes and carrier fluids during manufacture. THESE ARE NOT GENERIC INKS. UV Dye ink means that pictures do not fade over time like standard generic inks which can fade 80% quicker than OEM inks. We have invested a great deal of time and money to ensure our quality of our Inks is as high as possible whilst ensuring no damage is caused to the printers print heads. This is our sole business and we specialize in refill inks and CISS units. We do not stock low quality cheap CISS units or inks. We have trialed them and we have found that they are just not reliable and in some cases cause damage to the print heads. Please be careful when buying inks. We have found, from experience, that cheap inks tend to have harsh chemical carrier fluids which damage print heads and also tend to block print heads over time. They also tend to not contain any UV suppression fluid which means your prints fade very quickly. Our experience is that inks imported from Asia tend to be very poor and cause excessive damage to the print head when used for a prolonged period. Are all Inks the Same?

Absolutely not. There is a great deal of difference between inks available in the market today. Most are simply cheaply produced inks from China or Korea. Printer manufacturers warn against the use of generic style inks and in these cases it is a justifiable warning. A common marketing trick used by a number of eBay sellers is to advertise their inks as 'German' or 'German Technology' in reality these inks are 100% manufactured in china or Korea. This misleading advertising is based on an assumption that the German company Bayer provides the dye component used in the ink. In reality the dye component with makes up only 5% of the finished ink product comes from a Korean company called Laxness which was formerly owned by Bayer. Of course the other part of the ink (the other 95%) comprises of a number of carrier fluids which are the bits that cause the damage. OCP which is Germany's largest ink manufacturer took the unusual step of making a public announcement some years ago that it does not provide ink to any Chinese manufacturers due to the complaints it was receiving. Chinese inks have a bad reputation for causing head damage in printers and excessive fade rates due largely to the cheap carrier fluids used in their ink production. So essentially you get what you pay for.

Can I use your inks for refilling genuine cartridges?

Generally speaking our refill inks are used to refill our CISS (Continuous Ink Supply Systems), however the inks are equally suitable for those refilling OEM cartridges. However please note we do not provide the instructions, syringes and tools which are necessary for refilling OEM cartridges. Refilling cartridges can lead to print head damage. This is because the OEM cartridges contain a sponge which tends to break down due to the wet-dry-wet-dry process of refilling. Microscopic pieces of the sponge then travel deep into the print head causes overheating and/or irreparable blockages. Also as the cartridges have a chip which cannot be reset the user never knows when the cartridge is empty until it stops printing. Again this causes irreparable damage to the thermal heads.
