Canon have recently changed the methodology of the seals they use between the cartridge and print head. This change greatly effects the reliability when using a continuous ink supply system due to the increased pressure required by a CISS.

developed an exclusive patented head seal system to solve the issue

Technically speaking, the greater density and plasticity coupled with reduced barreling ensures greater uni-axial compression.
